Alfredo Sauce with Pasta

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ sticks salted butter

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup parmesan cheese

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves julienned

  • Salt & pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat

  2. Once melted add the heavy cream, stirring constantly and bring to a simmer

  3. As the sauce starts to thicken, turn off the heat and add the parmesan, stirring constantly until it's mixed in well. 

  4. Add the nutmeg and season with salt and pepper to taste

  5. Serve over your favorite pasta and top with fresh basil      

Makes about 3 cups

Note: the easiest way to julienne basil is to stack leaves and roll them up like a cigar and slice them thinly across.
