Chocolate Dipped Strawberries  

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Strawberries (about 15)

  • 7 oz Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate, 70% cacao

  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Shortening

Optional Garnish Ideas: Shredded Coconut, Chopped Nuts, Festive Sprinkles

Directions

  1. Wash and dry the strawberries gently. Let them sit on the counter for 15 minutes.  Add broken up chocolate and shortening to a microwavable bowl.  Microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.

  2. Line a sheet pan with wax paper.  I like to use a candy apple stick when dipping.  Gently insert the stick into the stem of the strawberry but not too far in, you want to be able to remove the stick easily after dipping.  Dip the strawberry into the melted chocolate and allow the excess to drip back into the bowl. 

  3. Before the chocolate sets, add/dip your favorite topping.  Place the strawberry on the sheet pan and remove the stick gently. 

  4. Repeat with the rest of the strawberries.

  5. Chill the strawberries in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to set.  

The strawberries can be made 24 hours in advance.
