CHUCK WAGON BEANS
This is one of my closest friends' recipe. It is so easy, delicious and feeds a crowd!
Chuck Wagon Beans
Ingredients
½ lb. Bacon Slices
2 Cloves Garlic, minced
3 lbs. Ground Beef, 93 % Lean
1 ½ c Ketchup (preferred brand Heinz)
2 c Finely Chopped Onion
1 ½ Tsp Salt
1 c Finely Chopped Celery
½ Tsp Pepper
⅔ c Beef Broth
2 - 1 lb 13 ounce cans Baked Beans (preferred brand Bush)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375F
In a dutch oven, cook the bacon and set aside in a small bowl. Remove bacon fat from the pan.
Add the ground beef, celery and onion to the dutch oven and cook until the hamburger is no longer pink. Drain grease.
Add in the broth, ketchup, garlic, beans, salt and pepper and stir until combined.
Place in the pan covered in the oven and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes until hot and bubbly. You could also transfer this to an aluminum pan and cook in the oven if you are bringing this as a dish to a cookout!
Crumble the bacon and sprinkle over top of the beans.
