Hot Fudge Sundae

Ingredients

  • 3 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream

  • 3-4 tbsp of Dark Chocolate Hot fudge Sauce  (see recipe below)

  • 2-3 Tbsp Whipped Cream

  • 1 Marachino Cherry

  • 1 Tsp chopped walnuts, optional

Directions

  1. Place 3 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream in a dessert dish.

  2. Top with Hot Fudge Sauce.

  3. Add whipped cream and top with a cherry.

Serve Immediately.

Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 c sugar

  • 1 ½ c heavy cream

  • 1 ½ c cocoa powder

  • 1 stick unsalted butter (½ c)

  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼  tsp salt

  • 3.5 ounces 70% chocolate bar chopped  

Directions

  1. In a 2 quart saucepan combine sugar, cocoa, heavy cream and stir with a whisk until combined. 

  2. Turn heat up to medium high and bring to a slight boil.  

  3. Add the butter and bring to a boil until the sauce starts to thicken, about 2 minutes. Stirring constantly. 

  4. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, salt and chopped chocolate and mix until the chocolate is completely melted. 

  5. Let cool for about 5 minutes before serving over ice cream.

Store in a mason jar in the refrigerator. To reheat, microwave for 15 seconds at a time until warm and I would suggest only microwaving what you are going to use rather than the whole jar.
